Jackie Cox
Jackie Cox, born Darius Rose, is a New York City–based drag artist who gained international recognition as a contestant on Season 12 of *RuPaul’s Drag Race*. The name “Jackie Cox” originated in college, coined by Rose and a close friend as a fictional musical theatre character they invented together. On the show, Jackie made history as the second contestant of Middle Eastern heritage—specifically Iranian—following D.J. “Shangela” Pierce, who is half Saudi Arabian. She also became the second Canadian queen to compete, after Brooke Lynn Hytes.
Beyond the runway, Jackie has built a dynamic career in live performance and advocacy. She is known for blending sharp comedic timing with heartfelt storytelling, often drawing on her Iranian-American background to challenge stereotypes and promote LGBTQ+ visibility. Her notable works include headlining at iconic venues like New York’s Laurie Beechman Theatre and collaborating with brands such as Absolut Vodka. Jackie’s *Drag Race* journey showcased her versatility, from a standout Snatch Game impersonation of Lisa Kudrow’s character Marge from *The Simpsons* to a poignant runway look honoring her heritage.
In addition to performing, Jackie is a vocal activist for queer and immigrant rights. Her achievements extend beyond the stage, earning her a dedicated fanbase and a reputation as a thoughtful, trailblazing figure in drag.
