A Band Called Death

·2013 ·1h 36m ·Documentary ·Music

Before the rise of iconic bands like Bad Brains and the Sex Pistols, Death emerged from Detroit in the early '70s as a groundbreaking black punk band. Comprised of teenage brothers David, Bobby, and Dannis Hackney, they laid the groundwork for a genre that would explode in popularity. However, their story remained largely unknown until a long-forgotten demo tape from 1974 resurfaced from Bobby's attic nearly three decades after their peak. This rediscovery introduced a new generation to Death and their influential sound, shining a light on their pioneering legacy in punk music.
